As part of our topic "All about me" in Term 1, my Kindergarten children created self-portraits with clay. This was a short 40 minute activity where the children first rolled their piece of clay into a ball, then flattened it to form a pancake, and then added the facial features in with pieces of bark, dried leave and pebbles. Part of my prep for this was to collect all the leaves etc. from my backyard! It would have been wonderful to take the children out of the classroom for a small walk around the neighbourhood to collect these items themselves.
The portraits turned out great though!
